WASHINGTON, DC (Jun 12, 2008) USSoccerPlayers -- US National Team coach Bob Bradley spoke with the media on a conference call Thursday afternoon.
"We want to utilize all ways to be a dangerous team and score goals in Qualifying," Bradley said. He talked about the three friendlies the team used as warm-ups, saying "It sharpens us in every way. The ability to react quickly, to see plays quickly, the kind of movement that's needed on the field."
"I think we go through different periods. When you play against three very good teams and you don't get many chances, it does highlight the continued attempt to improve. Creating and finishing good chances is a big part of what all teams are working on. I think the ideas are good. In some moments still, the execution has to improve. It's an area where we work all the time."
The United States plays Barbados home and home over the next two Sundays with the winner advancing the the next round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
Bradley referred to Barbados as "athletic" with "talented individuals." "You see a team Carribean style with some flair and overall athleticism."
As for the US preparations, Bradley said the squad was healthy and there aren't any injury concerns. Bradley said the squad is concentrating on their game, but is aware of the key players and the tactics Barbados will likely use. He described the team as comfortable training at the Home Depot Center and stressing the importance of the Qualifier series.
The US Soccer Federation announced the away leg will be shown live on ESPN Classic at 3pm ET on June 22nd.
